Rest In Peace Michael

There are not enough words to describe the impact and influence that this genius had on the world. Through all the negative energy that came his way, he still managed to touch so many lives whether through his music, dancing, or humanitarian efforts. Michael we will love you forever and you will live on in each and every one of your fans. God bless you and your family.

Disney's First Black Princess

YES!!! Disney has finally made a cartoon featuring Black characters! It's a classic tale that I'm sure most of you are familiar with, The Princess and the Frog. It's set in 1920's New Orleans, and the voice of the princess is the very beautiful and highly talented Anika Noni Rose. In a nutshell, the princess meets a frog, he asks her to kiss him so that he may become a prince, and....the spell is reversed and she becomes a frog as well! Now of course there are people out there that find fault with the movie, but I am not even going to get into all of that. I am just super excited that Disney has finally mane it their business to do a cartoon featuring Black characters. The movie is set to be released in theatres everywhere on December 11 and I cannot wait! To read more click here please ------> The Princess and the Frog.

I Heart: Sade

Do I really have to explain why I love Sade? Anyone who loves great music, knows Helen Folasade Adu. Her breathtaking beauty and voice surpasses any artist, past or present, female or male. You may think that I am exaggerating, but I'm not really. What I love most about her songs are the lyrics. The simplicity in her lyrics convey such strong emotion, whether she is talking about heartache, love, pain or struggle. Now, I could go on and on about Sade's music but since this is FashionPersonified, I'll give you all a few little known facts about Sade that are fashion relevant.
She graduated with a degree in Fashion Design from Saint Martin's College in London. Upon graduating she and a friend started a male fashion company. Another thing to add to her fashion resume is a stint as a model. Luckily for us she did not have a passion for modeling or fashion for that matter. Not that she doesn't have what it takes. I'm just happy she chose music. I couldn't imagine a world without Sade. Oh and I hear she is working on a new album. I SO hope this is true.

Vogue Magazine...The MOVIE!!!!

Well not exactly a movie. Apparently there is a Vogue documentary floating out there in movieland. No one is really speaking out about the film which was screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January, but here's what we do know from Fashion Week Daily: The documentary includes Anna Wintour's daughter, Bee Schaeffer, who apparently does not want to become a fashion editor, Andre Leon Talley's quest to lose weight because, well, Anna Wintour told him too, and her professional relationship, which may not be so peachy, with the magazine's creative director, Grace Coddington. I'm a little on the fence about this. On the one hand I will love to see the scribes of the fashion bible at work. But on the other hand, I really don't care all that much. I mean, I love fashion magazines but at the end of the day most of my inspiration comes from those I see on the street. I don't know, we'll see. To read the article go to www.nbcnewyork.com.
